Growing Bulbs In Pots

Lachenalia carnosa

Primary tabs

  • View(active tab)
  • Devel

Growing bulbs in pots has a lot of advantages over growing them in the ground. One of the most important is that it would be nearly impossible to appreciate the delicate flowers and leaves of many of the smaller bulbs unless you lie on the ground as they begin to bud and flower. Growing in pots also allows you to see the even smaller attacks of aphids and other predators before they can do much damage. In ground, it would be impossible to keep them weed-free as the small leaves would be difficult to separate from surrounding grasses.
